What I’ve Done
🎭 Act I
In the last Millennium, I was admitted as a Lawyer (1992), started working in a general practice in Windsor (1993), acted for claimants in personal injury claims in a suburban firm in Parramatta (1995), began helping insurers defend CTP claims (1996) and became accredited by the NSW Law Society as a specialist in personal injury law (1998).
🎭 Act II
In this Millennium, I joined Curwoods Lawyers in 2004 as a Senior Associate. I pioneered the production of Curwoods Case Notes on an industrial scale. By the end of 2005, I had helped Curwoods win two major CTP tenders and I was honoured to be made a Principal.
Following a merger in 2018, I was thrilled to become a Principal of McCabes Lawyers, where I was the driving force behind The Proper Lookout Podcast and The PIC Decision of the Week.
Since the beginning of this Millennium, I also kept myself busy by:
🟪 Acting for each of the CTP Insurers currently selling Green Slips in New South Wales.
🟪 Obtaining accreditation as a Mediator (2022)
🟪 Authoring the CCH Motor Accident Practitioners Handbook (2001 to 2016).
🟪 Acting as a CARS Claims Assessor (2004 to 2009).
🟪 Serving on the Law Society of NSW Specialist Accreditation Committee (2011 to date).
🟪 Serving on the Law Society of NSW Injury & Compensation Committee (2022 to date).
🟪 Serving as a Voluntary Director of the Marrickville Legal Centre (May 2019 to May 2022).
🟪 Serving as a Voluntary Director of Road Sense Australia (Dec 2020 to May 2022).
🟪 Serving as a Voluntary Director of IDEAS (May 2019 to Nov 2020).
🎭 Act III
Now in the second Quadcentennial of the 21st Century, I am excited to embark upon the third, and likely final, Act of my working life. I hope it will be a long and happy Third Act.
I am fortunate to have an ongoing commercial relationship with McCabes Lawyers, where I head their CTP Team.
Otherwise, subject to conflict checks, I am now running my own legal practice, with two arms:
